Vision Session of KIC with Kurt Nielsen
The day started with brunch. Each one came with food for the common table. It was the usual time of greeting each other, of speaking personal concerns and helping to clean up. Then we had the worship service with Pastor Michael Markussen leading and preaching. It was wonderful to see a gathered congregation of 56 persons- children, adults and youth. Then the vision session started at 14.00. Kurt, the expert on SCRUM, a principle or strategy of developing an organization for effective function, led the session. He started with a game, enabling participants to act and analyze their action and function towards a common goal.
He explained the principles of Scrum Master with the use of characters in chess game. Kurt was equipped with concrete teaching aids. Later each one got the chance to write down her/his thoughts and ideas in relation to the five group of concerns that the church should be dealing with: 1. Worship life and fellowship 2. Education and Nurture 3. Social Events (opening the fellowship to those of other faiths) 4. Mission, solidarity and compassion 5. Others
It was very quick for participants to respond to the call. Each one submitted their ideas and Kurt and Michael put them on the assigned group of concerns. To give value to each group of ideas that were laid out on the table, each one worked further on to put some blocks which functioned as valued valutas to each group of ideas and concerns. It seemed a step towards prioritizing the given ideas. It was amazing to hear the richness of ideas and concerns that were written and submitted. There was a general comment on the process and the product.
Each one filled up a form, identifying the area of work he/she would like to give time or participate in. Elizabeth will put together the result of session with the specified interests for involvement. The product will be presented to the church council meeting this week and will be made available on the KIC website for the members and all those interested to support the cross-cultural ministry.
It was a great day. The international congregation is claiming ownership of the life and ministry of the church by giving expressions of their ideas and desires and commitment in action. The vision session is just the beginning.

Many questions about God and our relationship to him can come up. We try to deal with those questions in our Bible study group. We discuss very basic and core concepts of Christianity.
