Happy New Year 2012!

KIC joins in the New Year's Eve worship service of the Danish Congregation of  Simon Peters Church. It is on  Saturday, the 31st of December  at 3.30 p.m. The Rev. Birgitte Molin leads the worship. After the worship service, we spend time at the confirmation room to wish each other Happy New Year!

We would like to greet you all and your family Happy  New Year!  Let us thank God for the year that is about to close and thank him for the New Year that grants us more possibilities. Let us celebrate the coming of the New Year with gratitude, more hope and faith in our hearts.

KIC Worship Service  on the  5th  of February

The second  international worship service this year is  on the 5th of February  at 1 p.m.  The Rev. Michael Markussen will conduct the service. Worship services take place every first Sunday of the month.

Coffee and tea will be served after the service. Please join the fellowship. The presence of some Danes in this worship service has been a welcoming gesture for the foreigners. There are foreigners in this fellowship who cannot speak the Danish language as their term of stay in the country is short. There are those who have struggled to learn the language and who by  informal friendly encounters with some Danes in church setting, manage to get help for their integration into the Danish society..

Bible Study 2012

The next Bible study follows a new schedule for the year 2012, taking into consideration Kurt's available time.  Instead of having it in the evenings, it has been decided to hold it after brunch. Those who have time to stay for an hour or longer after brunch are welcome to participate in the study at Simon Peters Church, Islandsvej 12, Kolding.

The study is in English, often participated in by students and interested Christians who would like to deepen their understanding on biblical texts in the light of life's own situation and events in our time.  See  here...

Come and share this fellowship of study, friendship and prayer. Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for more information.

Brunch on the 19th of February

The next brunch fellowship  is on the 15th  of January  at 12.15 at Simon Peters Church.  As usual, we bring our food for the common table. There will be a short reflection by Kurt Nielsen followed by the common meal. Brunch also gives the possibility of sharing concerns and facts  of someone's country of origin.  As usual, it serves as forum for building bridges of friendship and service in spite of differences in religion, language and culture.

Language Cafe /Sprogcafe every Thursday

Language Cafe continues every Thursday from 15.30 to 17.30.  Four regular Danish volunteers are giving their time to help foreigners brush up or learn their Danish language. The program is open to any refugee, foreigner or immigrant who is concerned to improve her/his  acquisition of the Danish language both written and spoken.

Language cafe holds Christmas break. Sprogcafe  resumes  on the  5th of  January.

Let Us Look Back...

Inspirational Day, Care for the Aged in a Cross-cultural Society (August 25, 16.30-20.30)

The cross-cultural committtee of Haderslev Diocese arranges a day to inspire us in our way of looking  at and caring for the old people in our midst. It is taking us to  the situation of our old people in the homes for the aged, in the hospitals and in their own homes where they receive help and  care. Enlightening us on the situation of our old people in these institutions are two invited experts: Naveed Balgiman from Copenhagen, coordinator of Ethnic Resource Team in different hospitals in the main region and who is also the next chairman of the Islam.Student Center, and Karen Bro Aaen from Århus who herself is a nurse and one of the pillars of the Health Center in Århus West which is opening doors to the ethnic minorities.

The cross-cultural committee that spearheads this activity has in mind to focus on the care and compassion for the old people, especially those with other ethnic background. What and how  do we understand  these terms--spiritual compassion, care for the soul and cultural values? These and more will be taken up and there is time for common reflection, discussion and sharing of our own personal experiences.

This will be in Simon Peters Church on the 25th of August at 4.30 to 8.30 p.m. Payment for attendance is 100 kr., an amount that pays for your  dinner and coffee. Register your name, address. e-mail and telephone until the 16th of August through the office of Simon Peters Church  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. A cultural event, offered to  Danes, new Danes, refugees and immigrants in Kolding and outside Kolding, this program attempts to celebrate our common humanity around the common things that we enjoy in life: songs, music, dance, poems and food. There is time to eat and speak and share our concerns with one another, to make or renew friendships and acquaintances. There is also a possibility for more entertainment while we eat.

Who is Kolding IC

Kolding International Congregation is a group of people of many different nationalities. We meet regularly for Church services, Bible studies, lecture evenings, Sunday brunches, informal meetings and general social activities.

After Kamalesh Biswas (our previous pastor, who started this activity) passed away in November 2009, pastor Michael Markussen of Simon Peters Kirke (Church) is conducting the services and offering general pastoral services.

Our church services takes place in Simon Peters Kirke in Kolding on the first Sunday in the month at 13:00 and are conducted in English. Coffee and tea is served afterwards. Elizabeth Padillo Olesen is our cross-cultural worker, who is in charged of and supports all the activites.

Other activities include occasional presentations and lectures, brunch on Sundays, Bible studies, excursions and the Christmas party. In cooperation with other cross cultural organizations, we invite individuals and families to join in a yearly summercamp.

Please check out our schedule and feel free to join us, we are already all shapes, sizes and colors, so we are sure you will fit in as well. Welcome!
